BILLY "BILL" PHILLIPS

Age 76, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2008 in Alabama. Billy ws born on February 7, 1931, in Griggsville, Ill. He had resided in the Clio area for the past six years, coming from Montrose. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Billy married Dorothy Parrott (Hill) on March 31, 1963. He was employed with Fisher Body for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the West Vienna United Methodist Church and the Durand VFW. Billy enjoyed golfing, woodworking, gardening and spending time with his grandkids.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; children, Deborah (Robin) Polk, of Montrose, Renee Phillips, of Grand Blanc, Randy Phillips, of Flint, Darrol Phillips, of Flint, Gerald (Sheryl) Hill, of California, and Robert (Jilayne) Hill, of Grand Blanc; seven grandchildren, Mellina, Justin, Jennifer, Jacob, Krystal and Ricky; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Wainman and Rudy (Carol) Wainman; sisters, Ruby (Rod) Rodriguez and Wanda (Bob) McCallister; and several nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Elsie Wainman, and sister, Donna Gant.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at the West Vienna United Methodist Church. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie will officiate, with cremation to follow. Friends may call at the O'Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Monday, January 28, 2008, from noon to 8 p.m., and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. OLGA I. HIBBARD

of Bradenton, Fla.

Age 99, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 in Bradenton, Fla., at Greenbriar Rehabilitation Center. Hospice services were provided by Tidewell Palliative Care. Olga was born on November 24, 1908 in Oakley, the daughter of Evan and Mina Chase. She graduated from Chesaning High School in the Class of 1927. In 1930, she graduated from Hurley Hospital School of Nursing in Flint. Frank Hibbard and Olga were united in marriage in 1942, spending most of their married life in Flint and Detroit until retirement to Bradenton, Fla. For many years Olga worked as an industrial nurse for Buick Motor Company and Champion Spark Plug. Olga was a life member of Pi Omicron sorority. Olga was an accomplished needlepoint and enjoyed making and giving those items as gifts to her family and friends. She incorporated her love of flowers and birds into many of her designs. Olga was an avid reader and member of a bridge club in Flint for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering her nursing skills and loving care to friends, neighbors and her retirement community.

Those left to celebrater her life include her sister, Novella Holappa, of Jenks, Okla. and Bradenton, Fla.; eight nieces and nephews and 17 great-nieces and nephews. Others who have preceded her in passing include her husband, Frank; sister, Norma Eurek Price; brother, Dr. Charles Chase; and brothers-in-law, Jack Eurek, Jack Price and Hugh Holappa.

In June, the memorial service and internment will take place at the Gaines Cemetery in Michigan. Memorials are suggested to a church or charity of the donor's choice.

MICHAEL JOHN KUNIK

Albee Township

Age 87, passed away Friday, January 18, 2008 at Concerned Care Assisted Living in Montrose. Michael Kunik was born on July 5, 1920 to the late Matthias and Mary (Rabulasky) Kunik in Albee Township, where he resided his whole life. He married Marjorie E. Newman on September 15, 1945 at St. Mary Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2000. Michael was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Albee. He also belonged to the Albee Township and Maple Grove Township Senior Centers, where he was known as "Cookie Mike." He was a lifetime farmer who loved tending to his grapes and his daughter's flowers.

Surviving are one daughter, Janine and David Ketchum, of Chesaning; two sons, David and Sandy Kunik, of Albee, and Gary and Joyce Kunik, of Albee; seven grandchildren, Joel and Kerri Himm, Haley and Andrew Bauer, Michael Kunik, Hayden Kunik, Kylee and Ryan Hoerner, Courtney adn Kelsey Kunik; two great-grandchildren, Kieran Himm and Lydia Bauer; and one brother, Joseph and Barbara Kunik, of Burt. In addition to his wife, Marjorie, and his parents, Michael was predeceased by a daughter, Judy; one son, Michael; three sisters, Stepanie Novak, Anna Krczmarik and Mary Bradley; and three brothers, Frank, John and Charles Kunik.

Michael's funeral liturgy was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2008 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Albee. Rev. Fr. Rick Bokinskie officiated, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
