Jastrzembowski ignites second half Tribe explosion

FRANKENMUTH - Brooke Jastrzembowski lit up the scoreboard in the second half as Chesaning's varsity girls basketball team erased a 10-point halftime deficit en route to an impressive 69-61 win at Frankenmuth last Monday.

"Brooke was clearly the best player on the floor and she will never forget the second half she had. I know I won't," commented veteran Chesaning coach Wayne Scanlon. "Our speed and quickness was the difference along with great heart by our girls."

We tried to play at 100 MPH in the first half and it didn't work, so we slowed down to about 80 MPH."

The Lady Indians forced 'Muth into 15 second-half turnovers while limiting their own miscues to just seven. Meanwhile, Chesaning scorched the nets, connecting on 13 of 20 shots from the floor for a sizzling 65% average after intermission and cashed in on 22 of 27 free throw chances. Jastrzembowski tied her own school record by making 15 freebies during the game. She missed just three charity tosses during the contest.
