WAYNE DOUGLAS HOLZHAUSEN
of Midland
Age 77, passed away Friday, January 25, 2008 at the MidMichigan Medical Center. His parents were Philip and Eva Holzhausen. The self-sufficient hard-working farm family had four sons and four daughters. They are Glen (Sara), Phillip, Jr. (Mickey), and Richard, who is deceased, Barbara Steele, Doris (Doyle) Ahlander, Marjorie (Bob) Miller, and Marilyn Flory. They all attended a one-room school, where their mother had once been a teacher. Wayne graduated from Chesaning High School in 1949. He attended the University of Michigan. He was an enthusiastic U of M sports fan for the rest of his life. Wayne began working at The Dow Chemical Company in the physics lab for Bud Rubens in 1951. He retired from Dow Benefits as a computer programmer in 1986. A group of Wayneís friends from Dow began gathering weekly to play cards. The game was called Sheepís Head, and it required five players. They continued to meet, even playing cards while Wayne was in the nursing home. Their last game was played in the fall at Wayneís home. Thank you Charlie Speery, Bob Hooper, Bernie Brooks and Jerry Nevins. Wayne enthusiastically attended the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, even though he was reliant upon a wheelchair and special hearing aids. Fishing trips with his friend, Bob Howe, were special, and he enjoyed attending Seasons Day Care where Emily helped him find good books. He was an avid reader. Special friend Joe Eichler made Wayne special by cutting his hair and helping him look sharp. Wayne will be missed by his family, wife, Pat (Barrett) Holzhausen; four sons, Robert, Jack, Jeffrey (Sue) and David (Mary Beth). There are six grandchildren, Annie Rose, Scott, Sara, Robert, Sean and Ann Marie. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 from the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 6220 Jefferson Ave. at Wackerly in Midland. Rev. Peggy Garrigues-Cortelyou officiated. Committal services took place at the church, with burial at a later time in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. RITA L. "RICKY" (BOLING) WILLIAMS
of St. Charles
Age 58, passed away on Saturday evening, January 26, 2008 in her home in St. Charles of a long-term illiness. She was born on March 22, 1949. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jerry Williams; daughter, Rebecca Williams; brothers, Ronnie Boling, Reggie Boling, Steve Boling and sister, Rhonda (Boling) Mitchell. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell Boling, Roger Boling and Randy Boling. Her kindness and generosity will be missed by all who knew her. Services were held at the Misiuk Funeral Home in Chesaning on Wednesday, January 30, 2008.
JAMES L. GUZIAK
of Oakley
Age 84, passed away on Friday, January 25, 2008 at the Ashley Care Center. He was born on October 8, 1923 in Detroit, the son of James and Margaret (Moeller) Guziak. He married Rita Schimmoller on October 4, 1947, and she survives him. He resided most of his life in the Brant and Brady areas. James was an agent for the Sinclair Refining Company. He was a petroleum driver for Farm Bureau and Standard Oil in Chesaning. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Rita; one son, Charles (Joan) Guziak, of Henderson; two daughters, Marie (Todd) Pryor, of Grand Rapids, Joyce (George ìSandyî) Russel, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Betty) Guziak, of Stanton, and Norman (Gerry) Guziak, of Bay City; two sisters, Betty (Newbern) Allen, of Camden, Tenn., and Ruth (Gil) Kinsel, of Saginaw; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Bob Beyersdorf, and a nephew, Bill Guziak. Funeral liturgy was held on Tuesday, January 29, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Todd Arnburg officiated, with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. RODNEY J. COSS
of Chesaning
Age 38, passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning, January 29, 2008 at St. Maryís of Saginaw. Rodney had worked for Phil Agnew Builders. He loved hunting. Those left to mourn him include his father and step-mother, Roger and Laurie Coss, of Oakley; his mother, Vicki Siddock, of Detroit; his son, Ryen Coss, of Warren; his brothers and sister, Scott, Tara and Erik; his grandfather, Les Coss, of Chesaning; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his soulmate, Angie Kligar. Cremation has taken place. The family will received visitors on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Misiuk Funeral Home of Chesaning from noon to 4 p.m. A memorial service took place at 1 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family for Ryenís education fund. JANET ELAINE BLAZO
of Oakley
Age 60, passed away Wednesday, January 30 2008 at Memorial Healthcare Center in Owosso. She was born on January 1, 1948, the daughter of Harold J. and Helen A. (Zimmerman) Wilson. She resided for most of her life in the Oakley area. She graduated from Chesaning Union High School with the class of 1967. She married Donald Blazo on September 21, 1967 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Oakley. He survives her. Janet enjoyed going to the jamborees that Don played at. She loved to go shopping at Walmart, and she enjoyed going to concerts and listening to country music. Janet loves spending time with her family, and being the oldest she always looked after her siblings. She always put the family reunions together. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and her door was always open for the neighborhood kids. Janet was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Oakley. She was also a Memorial Healthcare Hospice volunteer and a member of the Corunna Kickers. She is survived by her husband, Donald Blazo, of Oakley; three children, Michael and Tora Wilson, of St. Stewart, Ga., Michelle Moffit, of Chesaning, and Jeff and Sandy Lopez, of Fowlerville; grandchildren, Cassandra, Michael and Hunter Wilson, Danny, David, Adam, Matt and Sara Moffit, and Tyler Lopez; one brother, Larry and Karla Wilson, of Oakley; five sisters, Nancy and Dick Wilson, of Arkansas, Debbie Hunt, of Tennesee, Wendy and Willie Wilson, of Jacksonville, Fla., Lori Hodges, of Missouri, and Becky and Cliff Dunec, of Standish; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Canfield, a brother, Daniel Wilson, and three sisters, Barbara Wilson, Carol Moore and Jean Ann Beiers. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Smith Family Funeral Homes Elsie Chapel, in Elsie. Katherine Paul will officiate, with burial in St. Michaelís Cemetery, Oakley.
