BEE EMBRACE



D-O-G. The "Kahwanyss Klub Vylaige Peepel" laughs after their captain read the spelling of daschund as "d-o-g" at Chesaning's Great Grown-Up Spelling Bee. The team, consisting of Kathy Scheib, Connie Murdoch, Gayle Schwandt and Nancy Rowe, was awarded a set of dictionaries after being voted the most creative spellers by a selection of audience members

"BORED OF EDUKATION." Jennie Carlton, Chesaning Board of Education President, cheers for "The Champiens" at the February 22 adult spelling bee. The team included Chesaning Superintendent Kathy Stewart, board of education trustee Denise Edgar, secretary Kathy Wasmiller and Mary Eickholt, wife of the board's vice president. "It was an awesome event," said Stewart. "It was very well organized. You could just feel the energy and enthusiasm"

"All Bee Queens" team member Sue Browning hugs "Word Wizards" Sue Wolfe and LeAnne Hafner after the teams tied in the fourth swarm when neither team was eliminated after several words. Both the Bees and Wizards were part of a four-way tie for second place
