Gekeler who grew up working in the pizza business and who recently retired as a sheet metal worker, said the goal is to bring back the small town pizza parlor.

"I worked in the pizza business as a young guy, and I was part owner in another pizza parlor before," Gekeler explained.

Uncle Matty's Pizza opened in early December of last year featuring a take-out menu only featuring pizza, Stromboli, submarine sandwiches, antipasto salads, and Matt's specialty, an Italian Turnover.

"It's pizza dough wrapped around salami and ham, with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes, with Italian dressing," Gekeler said. mlgekeler@hotmail.com.
