Six Hornets garner all-league volleyball honors

Krupp, Vincke named to all-region team


New Lothrop's volleyball program is widely recognized for its excellence. Several Hornet players were recently cited for their performances as part of yet another outstanding season for Coach Sheri Warner's spikers, who went undefeated in the GAC and finished with an overall record of 41-15-4.

Six players earned some form of recognition in league voting, including three NL athletes who were named to the GAC First Team. In addition, Alissa Krupp and Hilary Vincke were accorded Class C All Region honors.

Alissa Krupp, Vincke and fellow senior Katie Henige were all named to the GAC Blue First Team while Kayla Krupp and Kayla Hall were voted to the Second Team. Sabrina Besaw earned Honorable Mention as part of New Lothrop's league champion squad.

Alissa Krupp governed the Hornet offense, passing at a 96% efficiency rate over the course of New Lothrop's perfect 12-0 league dual record. The third-year varsity starter made just two errors in 49 passing attempts while coming up with 65 digs over the twelve game GAC schedule. The talented senior also had 11 aces in 67 service attempts, serving at a 91% clip.

Vincke led the Hornets in kills with 128 over the course of the GAC schedule, averaging better than three kills per game. Vincke also slammed home 17 aces while clicking on 154 of 162 serves for a 95% success ratio.

Henige's 31 aces tied for the lead on the team and she clicked on all but 11 of 136 service attempts. She also recorded 36 kills, 21 digs and 20 assists.

Kayla Krupp led the team in digs with 114 in league action. She also had 62 kills and clicked on 92 of 100 serves, driving home 7 aces in the process. Kayla Hall was also named to the league's Second Team as she was second on the team with 154 service attempts over the course of the 12-game GAC schedule. Hall registered 31 aces while serving at 87% efficiency.

Besaw earned Honorable Mention with a team-high 162 serves, finding the range on all but 8 of those attempts. She also recorded 331 assists and had 78 digs.

Alissa Krupp earned Region #8 recognition in Class C based on impressive stats and strong team leadership. In was the second straight year that Krupp has earned All Region accord.

"Alissa was a primary passer in our three-person rotation," explained Coach Warner. "She has great speed, tremendous hustle and she is a smart attacker who is able to see the floor and find the open spot. She loves the game and she demonstrates great leadership."

Krupp registered 267 kills, 55 aces, 264 digs and 13 assists over the course of the 2006-07 season.

Hilary Vincke drove home 384 kills and 58 aces on the season. She also had 179 digs and 8 solo blocks.

"Hilary is a very strong and consistent attacker who is a threat from the outside with her ability to consistently hit line as well as cross-court," commented Warner. " She is very good at finding and hitting the open spot on the floor and she is a smart player who thrives under pressure. She is also a great team leader."
