"He was always very helpful with Chamber events and anything else that was happening in town," said Steve Harris, St. Charles Chamber of Commerce president. "He was a friendly, caring guy who enjoyed living here and serving the community." The New York native moved to St. Charles in 1991. Before relocating to Michigan, he operated a fruit farm and chiropractic practice in Middleport, New York. He continued to see patients until his health struggles made physical activity difficult, Harris said. "He was always concerned about his patients. He would go out of his way to help someone. He never said a bad word about anyone - in the ten years I knew him, I never saw him angry," he said. In his spare time, Trippensee enjoyed playing bingo, bowling and tending to his flower garden. He was an active member of St. Charles United Methodist Church. Those left to mourn him include his wife, Roberta, stepchildren Burton Cranston and Cheryl Adams, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 2 at St. Charles United Methodist Church, with Rev. Harold Slater officiating. Visitors can also pay their respects at Kendall Funeral Home on Sunday, April 1 from noon to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
