Sports PUBLISHED:
"When Chad clicked, we clicked," commented third-year Ram mentor Rick Ustishen. "He was capable of taking control of a game and he was very consistent for us as a scorer and rebounder." Rushing was the team's point guard and was especially strong throughout the second half of the season. The senior playmaker led the team in assists and steals while running the offense for the Rams. "Ja.Marcus came on strong for us and he distributed the ball well and made good decisions at the point guard position," praised Ustishen. "He also hustled on defense and had a good season for us." Polzin averaged nearly five points and 4.5 rebounds per contest despite missing a few games due to injury. "Justin was a go-getter for us on the court and he had a nose for the ball," Ustishen said. "He was deceivingly good at rebounding, pulling down a lot of rebounds for his size, and he made a lot of key plays to help us win some games." Montrose also passed out some individual honors at its end-of-the-season banquet, naming Junior Cody Groulx as the recipient of its "Craig Salter Award". The prestigious h¯nor goes out annually to the player who best represents a "team-above-self" attitude during the course of the season. Other individual honors went to Powell as the team's Most Valuable Player and to Cory Hargraves as the team's Most Improved Player. Ed Levy was awarded the Manager of the Year award. |
