Dugan Roosa preserved the 6-5 victory for starter Ryan Humpert when he came on in relief in the top of the seventh with no outs and two Ram runners on base. Roosa retired all three batters he faced to earn the save. Humpert tossed six innings, striking out seven while yielding eight hits and seven base on balls.

Humpert aided his own cause by lining a pair of hits and scoring a run. Roosa also had a single and scored. Brian Halas and Kyle Byron each hit safely for Roger Henniger's squad.

For Montrose, Zach Kuzniar logged a pair of hits, drove in two and scored once. Seth Hursh had a single, a double and scored a run. Cody Groulx legged out an inside-the-park home run while Nathan Ply and Nick Reinhardt each doubled for the Rams.

Shayne Mishler's Rams broke loose for five runnings in the second inning of the nightcap to gain the split. Nathan Ply picked up the win, allowing six hits and a walk while striking out four. Mitch Huber led the 12-hit assault with two singles and a double. Adam Campbell, Mike Foster and Groulx each had two hits in the nightcap.

St. Charles' six hits came from six different players. Roosa, Humpert, Halas, Ray Fowler, Kyle O'Bryan and Mike Falkenberg each singled for the 'Dawgs.
