NL softball gals lose twice to Byron

Jim Lahmann's squad committed five errors in the 7-3 opening loss before playing much better on defense in the second game, a classic 1-0 contest between the two GAC-Blue powerhouses.

Byron's Jade Fulton won both ends of the doubleheader, tossing a six-hitter while striking out 16 in the first game and spinning a one-hitter with 15 strike outs and one walk in the finale.

Justine Vincke socked a two-run homer in the opener while Nichole Ebenhoeh had the lone Hornet hit in the nightcap. Amanda Wendling was the losing pitcher in Game One, yielding eight hits while striking out a pair of Eagles. Kayla Knieper twirled a one-hitter in the second game, striking out three and walking two. Byron scored the only run of the game in the first inning, capitalizing on a base on balls and the only two Hornet errors of the contest.
