Artwork created by Casey Jacobs, Courtney Praski and Ashley Gaspar will be among the many items featured in a May 5 silent auction that will raise money for the family of two- year-old Trevor Hedrich.

Trevor was diagnosed with Tarui's Disease, a rare and fatal form of Muscular Dystrophy, earlier this year. He is the son of Tracy and Jody (Kopschitz) Hedrich, both lifelong residents of the New Lothrop and Chesaning area.

On May 5, friends and loved ones will gather for a benefit dinner and silent auction aimed at raising money to help cover expenses related to Trevor's ongoing treatment and care. Organizers hope the fundraiser will allow Jody to take a leave of absence from her career as a dental hygienist so she can focus on her son's daily needs.

The benefit will be held in the St. Michael's Church gymnasium on Lincoln Rd. in Maple Grove Township. The silent auction will open for browsing at 5:30 p.m., with a chicken dinner served starting at 6 p.m.

Jacobs, Praski and Gaspar are all students in Sarah Toyzan's advanced art class. The teacher said the trio eager accepted the challenge to create special pieces for the auction once they heard Trevor's story.

"We thought it was a great way to show our support for an important cause," said Toyzan, who also donated one of her paintings to the fundraiser.

Jody Hedrich is a graduate of New Lothrop High School.

In addition to the artwork, the auction will feature a variety of items donated by area businesses and individuals.
