Jim Lahmann's squad lost a tournament-opening 5-0 decision to (then) undefeated LakeVille before pounding out a pair of lopsided wins over host Corunna and Laingsburg on Saturday. The Hornets placed second in the four-team event.

Against LakeVille, Amanda Wendling pitched a four-hitter, but NL was hurt by six errors as the Falcons steadily pulled away to victory. Wendling struck out 11 while walking just one. Courtney Praski and Chelsea McAllister had the only hits for the Hornets.

New Lothrop breezed to an 8-0 win over Corunna in the second game of the day behind the steady pitching of Kayla Knieper, who tossed a two-hitter. Knieper struck out eight and walked a pair of Cavaliers. Praski and McAllister each stroked a pair of hits and scored twice apiece.

Hornet bats came alive in the final game of the tournament, as NL hammered out 15 hits in its 12-1 mercy win over Laingsburg. Wendling pitched a four-hitter, striking out seven and walking two. Praski again led the way with three hits. Six Hornets collected two hits apiece as New Lothrop scored in each of the five innings played.

New Lothrop had little difficulty in disposing of Durand on Monday, winning both games in just four innings, 11-0 and 19-2.

Knieper spun a two-hit gem in the opener while McAllister, Ashley Root, Knieper, and Justine Vincke collected two hits each. Root legged out a triple and knocked in three runs to do the most damage to the visiting Railroaders.

In the second game, the Hornets broke open a 2-0 game with nine runs in the top of the second inning to seal the win. Wendling struck out eight en route to a two-hit win. McAllister and Kayla Gross each registered three hits while Nici Ebenhoeh and Courtney Praski socked home runs.

The wins improved New Lothrop's GAC mark to 4-2. The Hornets stand at 8-3 overall.
