BEATRICE A. KUCHAR

Corunna

Age 80, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at home. She was born in Genesee County on April 18, 1927, the daughter of Charles and Lotta (Rising) Dowen. She married Frank Kuchar in Flushing on October 26, 1946. Beatrice was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She loved needlework, gardening and baking.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Kuchar, of Corunna; five sons, Kenneth and Linda Kuchar, of New Lothrop, Stanley and Linda Kuchar, of New Lothrop, Philip and Karen Kuchar, of Ohio, Jerry and Grace Kuchar, of Burt, and Samuel and Mary Anne Kuchar, of Corunna; daughter, Janice and Kenneth Keeler, of New Lothrop; 31 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother Robert and wife Dorothy Dowen, of Corunna; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Gregory, on July 17, 1983; grandson, Samuel Kuchar, on January 20, 2003; grandson, Ricky DeLaGarza, on April 23, 2007; and grandson, Bruce Kuchar, on March 25, 1966. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Louis Ekka officiated.

Cremation followed the services, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery, New Lothrop. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the family for missions. Arrangements were handled by the Rossell Funeral Home, Inc. of Flushing.

BERNICE FULLER

Lapeer

Age 96, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility. She was born on November 4, 1910, on a farm near Ashley, the daughter of Arthur and Lula (Markham) Kennett. Bernice spent most of her childhood days in North Star, graduating from Ithaca High School in 1928. She attend Central Michigan Normal at Mt. Pleasant and taught in country schools.

She married Albert Ward on May 18, 1932. To this union were born George (Betty) Ward, of Millington, Luanne Miller, of Dryden, Sandra Ward Conklin (deceased) and James (Cathy) Ward, of Galesburg. Albert died in 1949. Bernice married Lloyd Fuller on August 31, 1956. He had three daughters from a previous marriage, Patricia (Duane) LaBair, of Mayville, Sandra March (deceased) and Susan (Matthew) Peraino, of Clarkston. Lloyd died on January 13, 2003. After teaching 12 years in country schools in Gratiot, Macomb and Lapeer Counties, she was employed by Imlay City Community Schools, teaching first grade. She then became the elementary school principal of Weston Elementary and retired in 1972. After retiring, Bernice and Lloyd moved from their Capac home to Houghton Lake, spending winters in Florida.

She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Lapeer, member and Past Matron of the Order of Eastern Stars No. 252, and Past President of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a life member of Michigan Retired School Personnel, NEA, MEA and AARP. Bernice enjoyed traveling, many crafts, her wonderful family, cooking and playing cards.

She is survived by her five children; 20 grandchildren; 32 greatgrandchildren; and brother, Wilbur (Bonnie) Kennett. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Ward and Lloyd Fuller; her parents; sister, Nilah Cumming; brother, Rollin Kennett; two daughters; and granddaughters, Katherine Chung and Darcy Burleson. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Lapeer. Rev. Ralph H. Peiper II officiated.

Memorials may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, Mayville Methodist Church or Houghton Lake Methodist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Lynch and Sons Funeral Directors, Capstick Chapel, downtown Lapeer.

DENNIS D. PROVOST

Montrose

Age 57, died Thursday, May 10, 2007 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Dennis was born the seventh son of the seventh son on June 7, 1949 in Flint, to the late William and Vera (Gorsline) Provost. He had resided in the Montrose area since 1986. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Dennis married Diane Moore on November 26, 1979. He was employed with Engineer Protection Systems in Grand Rapids for over 20 years. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, the Flushing Rifle and Pistol Club and the Legion of Mary. David was also a member of STAFF, the Flint Area Right to Life and was a life member of the NRA. He loved spending time with his grandkids and enjoyed woodworking and gun shooting.

Surviving are his wife, Diane; children, Becky Volz, of Montrose, Kathy (Raymond) Aure, of Maryland, Nicholas Provost, of Fenton, Sarah (Todd) Palmer, of Flushing, Erin (friend Jason) Provost, of Montrose, Kristen (friend Paul Watson) Provost, of Montrose, Keri Lynn Provost and Brian Mount, of Flushing; seven grandchildren, Kalynn and Jacob Volz, Kelsey Sultan, Kory and Kayla Aure, Hannah and Olivia Post and soon-to-be-born Madison Mount; brother, Gene Provost; sisters, Faith (Don) McBridge, Shirley Page; special sister-in-law, Bev Provost; special brother-in-law, Bob Moore; mother- and father-in-law, Ed and Juanita Moore; and many nieces and nephews. Dennis was preceded in death by his five brothers, four sisters and son-in-law, Tony Post.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2007 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Fr. Dennis Howard will officiate, with burial at Montrose Township Cemetery. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose on Sunday, May 13, 2007, from noon to 9 p.m., with a vigil/rosary service being held at 7 p.m. Dennis will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10 am. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

OLIVER “BUD” KETTLER

Owosso
formerly of Chesaning

Age 98, passed away suddenly Friday morning, May 11, 2007, at Memorial Healthcare, Owosso.

Mr. Kettler is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Jenkinson) Kettler, of Owosso; his son, Gordon (Fran) Kettler, of Farmington Hills; his daughter, Linda (Charles) Barkley, of Colorado; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Chesaning. Friends may call at the church starting at 10 a.m. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Following the services, Mr. Kettler will be cremated.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Misiuk Funeral Home, Chesaning.

ROBERT R. ROWLAND

Cape Coral, Fla.

Age 90, passed away Monday, April 30, 2007. Robert was born on February 22, 1917, in Newton, Kan., the son of Melvin and Clara Rowland. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army as a technician third grade of the Fifth Armored Division. He was a member of VFW Post 4087 in Davision. He retired in 1979 from the Genesee County Road Commission in Flint after 33 years of service, and had lived in Cape Coral since 1982.

Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret; son, Robert (Sharon) Rowland, of Chesaning; daughter, Bonnie (Danny) Pritts, of Cape Coral, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Ritter and her husband, James; four brothers, William, Lewis, Herbert and Melvin; one sister, Dorothy (Burger); one grandson; one great-grandson and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation was held on Thursday, May 3, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Coral Ridge Funeral Home in Cape Coral, Fla. Burial took place at Flint Memorial Park in Flint, on Saturday, May 5, 2007, with military honors and the Rev. James Kleintank officiating. Local arrangements were entrusted to Walker-Martin Funeral Home, Chesaning. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to either Hope Hospice, 2430 Diplomat Pkwy., Cape Coral, FL 33909, or the VFW Post 4087, 9474 Lapeer Road, Davision, MI 48423.
