Hornet nine sweeps Lake Fenton 17-10. 14-2



LINDEN - New Lothrop's varsity baseball team wore a path out between third and home last Monday, scoring 31 times in a doubleheader sweep over Lake Fenton. The Hornets used a barrage of hits to win the opener and walked their way to victory in the nightcap.

New Lothrop spotted the host Blue Devils a 7-1 lead before busting out for seven runs in the top of the fourth to take a short-lived lead. Lake Fenton came right back in the bottom of the frame to knot the score at 8-all and the game remained scoreless until extra innings when the Hornets plated nine runs to grab a 17-10 triumph.

The Hornets pounded out 20 hits, paced by Jordan Brown who collected four hits and knocked in two runs. Jake Bishop added three hits wlhile Brad Rivette, Levi Dennis, Austin Krupp and Mike Griffin chipped in with two hits apiece. Seven different players had at least one stolen base for the Hornets.

New Lothrop breezed to a 14-2 mercy win in four innings in the finale. Roger Emmendorfer went two-for-two with a double and a pair of ribbies while Krupp picked up the win on the mound with a five-hitter. Krupp stuck out four and walked none. The Hornets took advantage of base on balls and Blue Devil errors to capture the easy win.
