Obituaries PUBLISHED:
Age 61, died Tuesday morning, May 22, 2007 at his home after a lengthy illness. Bob was born on October 27, 1945, to the late Norbert and Alma Henige, and spent his childhood in Maple Grove. Bob married Victoria Koviak on October 21, 1967, and she survives him. He was employed by General Motors for 31 years until his retirement, and then owned and operated Pine Haven Adult Foster Care Home in Hemlock. Bob was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Surviving besides his wife, Vickie, are a son and two daughters, Paul (Erin) Henige, of Northville, Jamie Henige, of Bridgeport, and Melanie (Dr. Jerry) Skaryd, of Chesaning; five grandchildren, Katharine Henige, Natalie, Julia, Jack and Lilly Skaryd; three sisters and seven brothers, Kate (Frank) Beckman, Bernice (J.R.) Loblein, David (Josephine) Henige, Diane (David) Kovicak, all of Chesaning, Ken (Jinny) Henige, of New Lothrop, Duane (Roberta) Henige, of Chesaning, George (Noreen) Henige, of Montrose, John Henige, of Saginaw, Matt (Karen) Henige, of Owosso, Ralph (Pat) Henige, of Chesaning; and many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian burial was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 25, 2007, at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. Fr. Fred Kawka officiated, with burial in Frankenmuth Township Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.
JEFFREY ROBART Oakley Age 37, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 14, 2007, in Saginaw County. Jeff was born on July 17, 1969, the son of Marvin D. and Beverly (Kiser) Robart. He was a graduate of Chesaning Union High School, and a registered tribal member of the Cherokee Nation. Jeff was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in the Gulf War. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. In his career he was a tinsmith, carpenter, welder, welding teacher and mechanic. Jeff is survived by his son, Brett, of Owosso; his mother, Beverly Robart, of Oakley; his father, Marvin and Dana Robart, of Chesaning; two brothers, Shawn and Angela Robart, of Oakley, and Matthew Robart, of Chesaning; his fiancÈe, Darla Baron; nieces, Paige, Emilee, Hannah and Emma Robart; nephews, Todd and Harris Robart; his grandparents, Elwood and Ruth Robart, and Rodney and Mildred Kiser. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian, and his grandmothers, Dorothy Doherty and Ruth Kiser. In accordance with Jeff's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. There was no visitation at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to his family. RACHEL E. YAKLIN Maple Grove Township Age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Covenant Medical Center Harrison, Saginaw. She was born on September 7, 1925 in Genesee County, the daughter of Walter and Catherine (McKenzie) Stead. She married Arthur Yaklin on July 13, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 2, 2006. Rachel was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She loved to cook and crochet. Christmas was Rachel's favorite time of the year. She dearly loved her family and her grandchildren. She retired from Montrose Nursing Home. Surviving are five children, Gerry and Judy Yaklin, of Michigan Center, Melvin and Bev Yaklin, of Essexville, Carol and Mike Schneider, of New Lothrop, Linda Hafner, of Chesaning, Sharon and Mark Birchmeier, of New Lothrop; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Rowley; dearest friends Jean and Raymond Wenzlick and Mary Ann Yaklin, and all the Layton Corners neighbors. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joseph Yaklin and a son-in-law, Robert Hafner and brother, Walter Stead, and twin brother, Raymond Stead, sisters, Mary Langley and Janet Ginelle. Funeral liturgy was held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Maple Grove. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelley officiated, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. BILL SABO Orlando, Fla. Age 97, died Thursday, May 24th, 2007 in Orlando. He was born on October 5, 1909 in Jersey City, N.J., the son of Damian and Anna Sabo. He had resided in Chesaning most of his life. He was retired from General Motors. He served in the Air Force during World War II. Survivors include his sisters, Rose Kieffer of Orlando, Fla., and Emma Muchala, of Lennon. He was predeceased by four brothers, Jack, of Chesaning, Steve of Chesaning, Tony and Frank, of California, and sister Anna Holmes, of Owosso. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Cemetery.
