Sports PUBLISHED:
Tiffany Peterson doubled in the Ram's second run of the game and Blaska won it with her 2-run double. Kyrie' Diem checked the Falcons on three runs. She allowed 10 hits and fanned three. "Kyrie' has made excellent strides on the mound in the last few weeks and did a great job giving us the opportunity to win this one," said Miller. Blaska finished with two hits in the game. Kylie Adams belted a solo homer while Peterson doubled in a run and scored another. Sam Emmendorder also collected a double and scored a run. Alisha Arthur, Amber Bouchard and Steff Anderson collected a hit apiece for the Rams who stand at 10-7 in the GAC and 18-18 overall. For the second time in three days the Rams went extra innings only to lose a heartbreaker. On Monday they lost a squeaker to GAC Blue Division frontrunner Byron and Thursday it was a gut-wrenching 8-7, 11-inning loss to LakeVille. A furious seventh inning rally by the Rams forced extra innings. Trailing 7-3 Montrose scored five times in the seventh. Neither team scored again until the Falcons pushed the winner across in the bottom of the 11th. "We did not take advantage of the opportunities we had in the first six innings," assessed Miller. "This cost us in the end. We played good softball in innings 7-11, but we need to be ready from the start to get the most out of our team. When we put maximum effort in we get excellent results. We put together an outstanding seventh inning rally, but after falling in 11 on Monday to Byron, two like this is tough on all of us." Alisha Arthur was on fire at the plate ripping four hits. She knocked in three runs and scored two. Losing pitcher Kylie Adams joined Amanda Blaska and Sam Emmendorfer with two hits each. Adams drove in a run while Emmendorfer plated two. Montrose out-hit the Falcsons 13 to 12. Adams struck out eight and walked three in going the distance.
