Leas to be honored at June 10 open house

Community will salute Citizen publisher and family

CHESANING - It will be veteran newsman Daniel Lea's turn to step into the spotlight on June 10, as the Tri-County Citizen publisher and his family are feted at a farewell open house at the Peet Community Center. The community is invited to join in the special send-off from 1 to 3 p.m.

Guests will bid adieu to the Montrose native and his wife, longtime Citizen Marketing Director Melissa Lea, before the family relocates to Boise, Idaho. Melissa Lea began an advertising management position with Boise's daily newspaper last week. Their children, Paige and Jacob Lea, both attended Big Rock Elementary School.

"Dan's tireless dedication to local news and community advocacy has made an impact on countless people from the Chesaning, Montrose, New Lothrop and St. Charles areas and beyond. This open house will give the public a chance to thank the Lea family for their contributions and friendship," said Carol Somers, Citizen News Editor.

Daniel Lea has been covering local news and sports for 35 years, and founded the Tri-County Citizen in 1983. He has also held leadership positions in numerous community organizations, including the Chesaning Chamber of Commerce, Chesaning Area Task Force, the Chesaning Rotary Club and the Montrose Blueberry Festival Committee.

The open house is open to the public, and refreshments will be served. The Peet Community Center is located at 142 N. Saginaw Street, Chesaning.
