Sports PUBLISHED:
St. Charles coach Roger Henniger attributed to loss to his team's youth. The 'Dawgs played three freshmand two sophomores this season in the contest. "We gave up three runs in the second, mostly on our own doing, and we couldn't recover," Henniger said. "At times we went to the wrong base with our throws. At one point we had a chance for an out, tried to turn two and ended up throwing the ball away." Ryan Humpert took the loss for the Bulldogs on the mound. He went the distance, allowing five runs off five hits with three walks while fanning four. Freshman Dugan Roosa swatted two hits with a RBI for run support. Spencer Davenport also had two hits with two RBI. Tim Crane and Humpert each added a double. Marshall Davenport had a hit. "We're young," admitted Henninger. "But our future looks great. We should have some excitement around here for the next couple of years." The Bulldogs finished the season with an 11-18 record. They went 5-9 in the TVC West. |
