The agreement, which includes a $10,000 lump sum payment, was offered by the board in February of this year, and later amended in April.

The eleven educators requesting retirement under the severance agreement include Gail Boswell, Beverly Chapman, Janet Emmendorfer, Raymond Guzy, Charlotee Hughes, Gerald Molnar, Wayne Scanlon, Crystal Strait, Leonard Strait, Kenneth Tarrant, and Mary VanLoon.

"These people will be greatly missed. They have mentored a lot of young teachers and have touched the lives of hundreds of thousands of students," said Superintendent Kathy Stewart.

The board also approved the recall of seven instructors laid off in April due to budget deficits. The recall also includes one teacher laid off during the 2006-07 school year.

The next meeting of the board will be the annual organizational meeting on July 23 at 7 p.m. in room 401 (board room) of the high school.
