"We wanted to do something to help get our community built up and to get the community involved in this project," stated Kuzniar. "Barber Park is such a beautiful park and this bell is a great way to honor all our veterans. And they deserve it." The Veterans Memorial Bell project, which includes plans for a giant bell and a building to house it, is being planned for display in Barber Memorial Park on Seymour Road. The project is being funded completely by donation and is not being funded by tax dollars. Thus far the project has been funded mainly by Chuck Emmendorfer, owner of Westside Welding. "This project is being funded completely by donations and so far Chuck Emmendorfer has himself provided most of the funding," stated Kuzniar. "We need to do our part to help raise the money for the building that will house the bell." Organizers approximate that an additional $230,000 will be required to complete the project. Monetary donations towards the project, along with raffle item donations for the Aug. 4 event, are welcome and can be made at the pub. The Montrose Pub is located at 10174 W. Vienna Road in Montrose.
