New Lothrop ed board hires staff

NEW LOTHROP -- At a special meeting on Monday, July 30, the New Lothrop board of education hired staff members and received a facility update.

During the facility update, Superintendent John Strycker and project manager Brian Luenberger reported the high school renovation and the new elementary building project remain on schedule. "We have had some minor issues, such as the high moisture content in the new gym which has delayed the installation of the gym floor," said Strycker. "We also had a slight issue with painting the door frames in the new building, but other than that, this project has gone extremely well." In other action, the board approved the hiring of Jane Devota and Jessica Muntz as secondary math teachers. The board also approved Joda Krupp as a secondary science teacher and Melissa Stiles as a secondary math/health teacher. "We are excited about our new teaching staff and look forward to seeing them in the classroom this fall," Strycker said. The board also authorized offering a VSP buyout substantially identical to the one previously offered in the spring. The move basically extends the deadline for staff who might consider retirement. The next regular board meeting will be on Monday, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m. in the high school library.
