Obituaries PUBLISHED:
Age 39, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2007, at St. Mary's of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw. He was born on December 11, 1967 in Flint, the son of Jerome and Jill (Spencer) McCon. He married Sherry Sutter on June 5, 1999, and she survives him. Scot enjoyed muscle cars and NASCAR. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved his time spent with family and friends. He was his daughter Tanya's hero. Scot had been a cement finisher for a number of years. He is survived by his wife, Sherry; daughter, Tanya; parents, Jerome and Jill McCon, of Arizona; his sister, Christa (Gary) Palinsky, of Montrose; one nephew and two nieces; his mother- and father-in-law, John and Peg Sutter, of Chesaning; sister- and brother-in-law, Brook and Jeremy Smith, of Oakley; grandfather, Pops Spencer; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007 at Walker-Martin Funeral Home, Chesaning. Chaplain Bill Rabior officiated, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. GERDING Cadillac formerly of Chesaning Age 77, passed away on Sunday morning, July 29, 2007 at the Lakeview Lutheran Home, Cadillac. She was born on April 18, 1930, to the late William and Mary Ellen (Besner) Shankus. She married Robert J. Gerding on September 29, 1951. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1987. Joan was a homemaker. She is survived by six children, Marie (Jerry) Conklin, of Palm Bay, Fla., Nancy (Tod) Wellman, of Melbourne, Fla., Roberta Gerding, of Cadillac, Ken Gerding, of Midland, Kathy Swinehart, of Lake City, and William Gerding, of Roswell, N.M.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; a brother and three sisters, William (Helen) Shankus, of Georgia, Betty (Bill) Carson, of Taylor, Mary (Russ) Charbonneau, of Bay City, and Carole (Gary) Brown, of Chelsea. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 1, 2007, at the Walker-Martin Funeral Home, Chesaning. ADRIAN DALY SMITH New Lothrop Age 89, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at the Saginaw Pines Nursing Home. He was born on September 4, 1917 in Flint, the son of David A. and Nancy (Wright) Smith, of New Lothrop. He married Wilma A. Delbridge, his beloved "Billie", on March 23, 1937. She preceded him in death on April 7, 2002. Graduating from New Lothrop High School, he was a life-long resident of New Lothrop and its longest-lived resident. He attended the Nazarene Church all of his life, and he was very active and was its last surviving charter member. He was the church treasurer for 45 years, serving on the church board for 50 years, and also served as youth president and Sunday School superintendent. Over the years he was involved in the community by managing the J.A. Byerly Grocery for seven years in the late 1940s, and he worked as a meat cutter at Confer's Grocery for several years. He loved the New Lothrop Schools and was involved in many of their activities. He served on the school board for 20 years. He loved the athletic program and running the sideline down box at football games for 45 years and keeping score at basketball games for 26 years. In recent years he was very supportive of the girls' volleyball team. He and his wife were grand marshals of the Homecoming Parade in 2001. Adrian had worked at AC in Flint and retired from Midland Ross Corp. in 1981. He was also a member of the Shiawassee Intermediate School District, retiring in 1988 after 29 years of service. He is survived by two sons, David (Kathleen) Smith, of St. Charles, and Robert (Gayle) Smith, of San Diego, Calif.; six married grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Mae Ross, of Clio, and Della (Ronald) Ross, of Swartz Creek; several nieces and nephews and several Delbridge sisters- and brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, and two sisters, Onalee Jean Daly and Joan Dwyer. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2007, at the New Lothrop Nazarene Church. Pastor Paul Brashaw and Robert Smith officiated, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Whelpley-Martin Funeral Home, New Lothrop. LaRUE, Ph.D. Chesaning The memorial service for Dr. LaRue will be held Saturday, August 11, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Chesaning. Memorials may be made to the family. www.misiukfuneralhome.com EDWARD JOHN BREMER Port Huron Age 40, passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2007. He was born on March 20, 1967, in Saginaw. He will be greatly missed and remembered with the same passion he fought for his life's dreams. He is survived by his mother, F. Theresa (Bremer) Felice and Frank Felice, of Bay City; three brothers, Matthew Bremer, of Brandon, Fla., Anthony Bremer, of Portland, Ore., and Clint Bremer, of St. Charles; his grandfather, Louis J. Pacek, of Saginaw; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward C. Bremer and grandmother, Frances B. Pacek. His wish to be cremated has been performed and he will be coming home for a private memorial service. Shortly thereafter, he will be put to rest in Florida where he was the happiest. |
