BRADY TWP. - The Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor Association (MMOGTA) continued its strong tradition of giving recently, shining bright on the life of a local teen struck by tragedy.

The group hosted a Tractor Pull and Dinner Benefit fundraiser for 17-year-old Chesaning teen Amanda Belanger who was severely injured this year in an automobile accident in Brady Township.

Belanger was left partially paralyzed, has had a steel rod placed in her back, and remains hospitalized in Grand Rapids facing a long period of therapy and recovery.

Two other area youths were also injured in the accident along with one being killed.

The fundraiser event for Belanger included a Chicken BBQ dinner and cash and prize raffles. An exhibition tractor pull for $10 a hook, with tractors available for anyone who wished to try the popular activity, went on until midnight on the day of the event.

Live music was provided by the Jack Clarkson Band.

The three surviving girls were able to attend the event. It was the first time they had been together since the accident occurred.

"If a bright spot can be found in the midst of this sad story, surely this event was one. The turnout in support of this cause was outstanding," noted a spokesperson for the club.

"And the fact that all three of the surviving girls were able to be together on this beautiful day was wonderful," the spokesperson added.

Proceeds from the event, which was held at the club show grounds in Oakley, were donated to the Belanger family to help with expenses.
