Maple Groove. The ring bearer and flower girl played games in the aisle. A lawyer interrupted with a child support issue halfway through. A perfectly successful wedding.

The Maple Groove Senior Citizen Center's Mock Wedding, which began at 11 a.m. August 16, had the audience laughing at the ad-libbed ceremony, the center's big event of the summer.

The Minister (Mike Eastwood) conducted the improvisational ceremony for bride Joan Lemaire and groom Jim Hoehn. At one point in the ceremony, Best Man Durwood Haven interrupted saying as the best, he should be the groom. Ethel Smith played the maid of honor and Hilda Emmendorfer, the eldest member at 100 years old, yielded tissues as the mother of the bride.

Costumes such as mismatched shoes and a purple cap for the minister to props such as the ring bearer's fishing pole full of rings added to the events wit. "Once they got in their outfits they blossomed," said organizer Sue Quaderer.

After the service, those in attendance-about 100-enjoyed a reception, raffle, bingo, prizes and games.

The center first did a mock wedding around ten years ago, this is their third one.

"It did turn out real good," said "bride" Joan Lemaire. "We knew some of the stuff that would happen, but not everything."
