NL, Indians compete at Durand X-C Invite



DURAND - New Lothrop finished 7th in girls'competition and 11th among boys in the 14-team Durand Cross Country Invitational last Tuesday. Chesaning's Andrew Guzdial finished seventh among 89 male runners for the Indians at the meet, but the Tribe did not field enough runners to qualify for the team competition..

Emily Vincke turned in the fastest time for the Hornet gals, placing 19th among 69 runners with a clocking of 23:20. Other girls who earned points for NL were: Brittney Henige (31st, 24:26), Kayla Knieper (36th, 24:44), Ashley Root (38th, 25:13), and Amanda Sanders (49th, 26:50). Celeste Rousseau finished 54th in a time of 27:53 and Amber Sullivan clocked in at 36:46.

Dakota Allen and Jesse Lorencz crossed the line side-by-side for the Hornet guys, finishing in 51st and 52nd with times of 20:56 and 20:57 to lead their team. Brandon Praski was 64th at 22:23, Josh Schiefer came in 68th at 22:39 and Tiler Bacon crossed the line in 26:55, good for 83rd. Pat Schnell and Eric Crenshaw rounded out the competition for NL by placing 86th and 89th, respectively.

Besides Guzdial's seventh place finish (17:27), Brandon Bishop came in 59th in a span of 21:38 and Terry Bishop was 84th with a clocking of 27:41. Chantelle Fondren (37th, 24:55) and Heather Sawvel (39th, 25:21) placed for the Tribe gals.

Linden won the race for both the boys and the girls.

The Hornets had several JV runners compete at the meet, led by Cody Jacobs, who ran the course in 26:12. Matt Knieper (27:44), Chelsea Parsons (34:53), Alyssa Rivette (37:52), Jessica Parsons (38:41) and Tricia Stankiewicz (40:28) also ran for the JV squad.

New Lothrop's Jr. High team sparkled at the meet, filling the second through sixth spots with impressive showings in the two-mile race from Sal Adams (15:14), Sean Vincke (15:34), Rachel Vincke (15:37), Josh Stankiewicz (15:51) and Mitch Sovis (16:23).
