It's only make believe Fantasy abounds at Hill-McCloy for Homecoming MONTROSE The students at Hill-McCloy High School will be celebrating Homecoming this week with the theme "Make Believe." Students will be drawing on their imaginations for the dress up days competition. Monday is Fairy Tales. Tuesday is Dr. Seuss. Wednesday is Cartoons. Thursday is Superheroes and Friday is Red and Black Day. On Wednesday, Oct. 3, the freshman/senior team will take on the sophomore/junior team in the annual powderpuff game, set for 6 p.m. at the Bob Hayes Athletic Field. On Thursday, the video assembly will be held at 8:45 a.m. in the Montrose Community Schools auditorium. The competition culminates on Friday with the final activities. Parade line-up is at 5 p.m. in the middle school parking lot, with the Homecoming Parade stepping off at 5:30 p.m. The parade will travel on North Street to Saginaw Street, then to State Street over to Nanita Drive and back up to the high school parking lot. This year's parade grand marshals are Jim and Mary Ply. At 7 p.m., the varsity Rams will play host to the Durand Railroaders at Bob Hayes Athletic Field. The 2007 Homecoming Queen will be crowned at halftime. Closing out the evening will be a dance in the high school/middle school cafeteria from the conclusion of the game until midnight. Vying for the crown of 2007 Homecoming Queen are Stephanie Altom, daughter of Michael Altom and Dayna Altom; Kyrie' Diem, daughter of Paula Diem and Michael Diem; Tarah Diem, daughter of Dan Diem and Lisa Diem; Kirsti Groulx, daughter of Amy Groulx and Jerry Groulx; Ashley Hebl, daughter of Keith Hebl and Gloria Hebl; and Samantha McCullen, daughter of Daniel McCullen and Carrie McCullen. This year's king candidates are Adam Campbell, son of Tammy Campbell and Kipp Campbell; Bradley Boone and Brandon Boone, sons of Charles Edward Boone and Tammy Kay Boone; Cody Groulx, son of John and Dawn Groulx; Seth Hursh, son of Dawn and Bob Hursh; and Zach Kuzniar, son of Carole Kuzniar and Randy Kuzniar. Representing the freshman class this year are Kayla Setzke, daughter of Jeff and Carla Setzke, and Kyle Jacobs, son of Matt Jacobs and Tina Jacobs. The sophomore reps are Taryn Handyside, daughter of Sue Handyside and Norm Handyside, and John-Luke Turchi, son of Pam Turchi and Luke Turchi. Representing the junior class are Sara Pully, daughter of Steve Pully and Lisa Pully, and Matt Goddard, son of Ken Goddard and Chris Goddard.
Reality TV takes to the airwaves for New Lothrop's Homecoming week NEW LOTHROP Taking a cue from the hottest programming craze, New Lothrop High School students will get into Reality TV for this year's Homecoming celebration. Dress up days this year are: Monday Celebrity Fit Club (workout clothes); Tuesday What Not To Wear (wear the worst fashion); Wednesday Laguna Beach (beachwear, dress appropriately); Thursday Who Wants To Be A Superhero? (dress like a favorite or make one up); and Friday Two-A-Days (go Hornets!). This year's powderpuff game between the juniors and seniors will be played on Monday, Oct. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Hornet Field. The tug-of-war between the freshman and sophomores will also be held that night. Admission cost is $5, with charity game funds going to the Erica Burtch Memorial Scholarship. The pep assembly will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, following the court introductions. Then at 5 p.m. line-up for the Homecoming parade will begin between the high school and elementary school, with the parade exiting at 5:45 p.m. and returning to the parking lot afterward. Grand marshals this year are Michael and Thylia Lare, long-time supporters of the district and community. Thylia served on the school board, while Mike owned and operated Mike's 76 station, and currently helps on the fire department. At 7 p.m., the varsity Hornets will play host to Byron. At halftime, the Homecoming queen will be crowned. The semi-formal Homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 8 to 11 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The cost is $5. This year's Homecoming queen candidates are Sabrina Besaw, daughter of Joe and Denise Besaw; Brittney Henige, daughter of Pam and Randy Henige; and Amber Sullivan, daughter of Michelle and Robert Eickholt. The king candidates are Eric Crenshaw, son of Timothy and Linda Crenshaw; Jason Henige, son of Tim and Sue Henige; and Kyle Moore, son of Paul and Sharon Moore. The freshman class representatives are Justin Walker, son of Vic and Karen Walker, and Paige Henige, daughter of Greg and Michelle Henige. Representing the sophomore class are Chris Richards, son of Martha and Steve Mackie, and Kayla Henige, daughter of Greg and Michelle Henige. The junior class reps are Tiler Bacon, son of Kevin Bacon and Anne Birchmeier, and Ashley Root, daughter of Greg and Vera Root.
St. Charles gets ready to rock the town for Homecoming ST. CHARLES The St. Charles community will be decked out in red and black this week for the 2007 Homecoming celebration. At the high school, students will be competing in dress-up days. Monday is Pajama Day. Tuesday is Fake-An-Injury Day. Wednesday is Gender Switch Day. Thursday is Garbage Bag Day. Friday is Red, Black and White day. The celebration started last night, Saturday, Sept. 29, with a tailgate party at the high school, followed by a pep rally and then a movie in Bulldog Stadium. On Friday, Oct. 5, the court assembly will be held from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Then from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., the football team, cheerleaders and some band members will head across the drive to the elementary school pep assembly. The high school pep assembly will be held from 1:45 to 2:25 p.m. Line-up for the Homecoming parade will begin at 5 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, with the parade stepping off at 5:30 p.m. Then at 7 p.m., the Bulldog varsity football team will play host to Valley Lutheran at Bulldog Stadium. Homecoming festivities will be held at halftime. Vying for the 2007 Homecoming queen crown this year are Brooke Braley, daughter of Tim and Peggy Braley; Camille LeFevre, daughter of Lenny and Jodi LeFevre; Morgan McSweyn, daughter of Darci and Jim McSweyn; and Felicia and Tiffany Reinke, daughters of Pam Bradley and Eric Reinke. This year's king candidates are Raymond Lewis Fowler III, son of Ray Fowler and Gloria Fowler; Eric Fulton, son of Mark and Patrica Fulton; Brian Halas, son of Bridget and Jim Stam; Brad Saunders, son of Bob and Pam Saunders; and Adam Spannagel, son of Lisa Stephens and Bill Spannagel. Representing the freshman class are Katie Gonzales, daughter of Michelle and Ronald Gonzales, and Ty Hollenback. The sophomore reps are Stephanie Olson, daughter of Michael and Joyce Olson, and Travis Crane, son of Racheal and Fred Crane. Representing the junior class are Jessica Gonzales, daughter of Ron and Michelle Gonzales, and Chris Schalow, son of John and Laurie Wesolek and Randy and Patti Schalow. The senior class representatives are Danielle Reinke, daughter of Pam Bradley and Eric Reinke, and Spencer Davenport, the son of Jill and Jeff Davenport.
