Lasting Expressions in Market Street Square on Broad Street retires today after over two decades of selling cards and gifts. Hornak has owned the business since August 1987. Her husband Ken, who retired eight years ago from Buick, helped with repairs and covered occasional shifts. Becky Martin, who first inspired Judy Hornak to sell home décor with her mix of gifts, managed the shop. Hornak decided to retire because of her two decades in the business and because the Market Street Mall has been for sale for almost a year. She plans to spend more time with her family son Ken Jr. , daughter Becky Little and her three grandkids. Hornak had always dreamed of opening a shop. She went into the card business because of her love for people and desire to help them. "I wanted to meet people and serve the communityäI was the type of person that went to every card shop to find the right card." Hornak would like to thank her friends those who were there from the beginning and those she met along the way and the community for supporting her business. Hornak said she may extend the retirement sale past today. Anyone interested on making a purchase can call Lasting Expressions at 845-6550.
